WATCH | We Surprised Our Family

Ahlan wa sahlan!

This story begins way back in 1982, when our grandfather, Fayez Khawaja, saved up after years of night shifts sweeping bakeries and making donuts at Dunkin to open up his own business-- a fried chicken and sub shop called Chicken Tonight in Rockville, MD. He was soon joined by his son Dave, and together they turned Chicken Tonight into a neighborhood staple.

This unassuming shop in a small shopping center was a catalyst in many ways. Growing up behind it’s counter and hot grills, we got a taste early on for hospitality through food-- and hard work! Restaurants were our constant backdrop - is it any wonder we didn’t listen when our parents told us not to go into the food business?

Our grandfather and uncle closed shop in 2006; but through sheer chance and a stroke of luck - that same unassuming shop made its way back into our family and is now home to the first ever Z&Z Manoushe Bakery.

The Legacy

Continues

We have so many memories of our grandfather in this restaurant, some of which are literally and visibly still inscribed on the walls in his handwriting. Grandpa Fuzzy was known for calling everyone “my friend,” so in keeping with his spirit, just know that once you step foot into this place, you’re our friend, too.

We’re so excited to be back in this space and to be able to share the Manoushe (our grandpa’s favorite food) with our community.

Welcome to Z&Z Manoushe Bakery! We can’t wait to share a meal with you!

Love,

The Dubbaneh Family
